RotaryDistrict7030 is overwhelmed to announce that Africa has been declared free of the wild poliovirus by the WHO !! The continent has stamped out wild poliovirus after a three-decade campaign against a disease that once paralyzed 75,000 children on the continent every year. The achievement is a major step toward ridding the globe of the virus that causes the disabling — and sometimes deadly — disease of polio: Only Afghanistan and Pakistan are still reporting cases. This is a milestone achievement in our lifetimes and all members of the Rotary family should celebrate and promote the news as much as possible so that the world knows that we are #ThisClose to eradicating polio from the globe.
