On Saturday January 14th 2017,  members of the Rotary Club of Paramaribo Residence and some of their children got 'hands on' and conducted restoration activities at the Tamara Children's Foundation Centre.

Defying dark clouds and rain, Rotarians started repairing and repainting the playground and also trimming overgrown trees and bushes so as to prepare the onsite vegetable garden for replanting. This project also included a complete sanitation overhauling which would take an entire week to finish.

During the day, the Rotary fellows enthusiasm enhanced when the children of the centre joined in this 'getting dirty' party!

When heavy rain forced the group inside, the fun did not stop! In fact, the party continued with a nice meal and romping with the children who were presented with a donation of five (5) soccer and volley balls. The children's curiosity and playfulness created an inspiring 'feel good' moment with all the fellows and resulted in another spontaneous 'educational day out' the following Saturday.

The children and caretakers were surprised with transportation that brought them for a tour to one of Suriname's leading radio stations. Afterwards they were treated with cooking lessons where they were able to create their own lunch and omelets. After a fun 'cook out' with lots of laughs they were safely transported back home.

* The Tamara Foundation is a crisis centre for neglected and abused children. For safety reasons the faces of these children were 'blurred' or were kept from being published. Only children from fellows are visible in pictures.
