At a simple ceremony on July 30th 2022 at the National Library, Georgetown, Guyana in the presence of a group of children, representatives of the National Library and members of the Club the reader friendly handbook - titled “Climate Change and Nature Education for the Next Generation of Environmentalists” - was launched.
The Rotary Club of Garden City is a ‘Cause-Based’ club with a focus on Supporting the Environment - the 7th area of focus of Rotary International. This Handbook is a significant achievement in the club’s quest to encourage early environmental education for children. More than promoting nature this handbook allows children to explore environmental issues, engage in weather matching activities and take action to improve the environment.
It will inspire them to investigate how and why things happen, and will enable them to form their own opinions on complex issues rather than being told. The club is hoping that this handbook will promote critical and creative thinking and lead children to become more involved with their communities and provide the building blocks they need to live eco-friendly and sustainable lives.
This handbook was compiled with extracts from several sources including information from Guyana Government Climate Change network and special reports.
The copies handed over to the National Library will be placed in the reference section of all National Library outlets, Bookmobiles and uploaded to the Electronic Library.

Rotary Club de Garden City: Lance le Manuel sur l’Environnement pour les Enfants
Le 30 juillet 2022, lors d'une cérémonie simple à la Bibliothèque Nationale de Georgetown, au Guyana, en présence d'un groupe d'enfants, de représentants de la Bibliothèque Nationale et des membres du Club, le manuel a été lancé.
Intitulé " Éducation aux Changements Climatiques et à la Nature pour les Prochaines Générations de Défenseurs de l'Environnement"
Le Rotary club de Garden City est un club " Fondé sur une Cause " qui se concentre sur Protéger l'Environnement, le 7ème axe stratégique du Rotary International. Ce livret est une réalisation importante dans la quête du club à encourager l'éducation environnementale précoce des enfants. Plus que promouvoir la nature, ce livret permet aux enfants d'explorer les questions environnementales, de s'engager dans des activités de concordance avec la météo et d'agir pour améliorer l'environnement.
Il les incitera à chercher à savoir comment et pourquoi les choses se produisent, et leur permettra de se forger leur propre opinion sur des questions complexes plutôt que de se la faire raconter. Le club espère que ce livret encouragera la pensée critique et créative, incitera les enfants à s'impliquer davantage dans leur communauté et leur fournira les éléments nécessaires pour mener une vie écologique et durable.
Ce livret a été réalisé à partir d'extraits de plusieurs sources, y compris des informations provenant du réseau sur le changement climatique du Gouvernement Guyanien et de rapports spéciaux.
Les copies remises à la Bibliothèque Nationale seront placées dans la section de référence dans toutes les branches de la Bibliothèque Nationale, des bibliobus et téléchargeables dans la Bibliothèque Electronique.
