In the wake of Tropical Storm Erika, the Rotary Club of Dominica set up a Relief Fund which received generous donations from Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, organizations, businesses and individuals locally, regionally and internationally.

The Rotary Club of Dominica developed and implemented a Livelihood Restoration and Community Development Project, which assisted small business owners and community organizations in their recovery efforts.  These persons had lost their belongings when their homes or workshops were destroyed by the raging flood waters or landslides.  Fifty (50) individuals including small manufacturers, farmers, mechanics, seamstresses and other tradesmen were assisted with tools, equipment, appliances, fertilizer and other supplies.

Two (2) community organizations were also assisted with equipment, while one community organization, Bagatelle Village Council, was assisted with the construction of 30.8 m of storm drain.  This was previously an earthen drain which caused seepage of water and land slippage.  The concrete drain will mitigate against landslide in the future. The total amount expended on the project was US$75,000.
