With a goal of providing ‘Service above Self” the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown hosted its 4th annual Pediatric Village on 31st August 2019 - Alexander S Hirschfelday - at the T N Kirnon School. The free event provided exceptional heath care to hundreds of children between the ages of 3 – 18 who came from numerous areas in Antigua.

Every child had the opportunity to receive screening in Vision and Dental Care, and also General health. All screenings were done by some of Antigua’s best professionals in the Health Care industry all of whom donated their time and resources to ensure that those in attendance were on a healthy path.

This year, Rotary Sundown introduced some major highlights into the project which were well received by parents and children.

For the first time ever, attendees participated in self defense training, healthy cooking and eating demos and was able to receive the (HPV) Human Papillomavirus vaccine all on site. Another first time event was the “How to brush your teeth” demo where children were entertained by the Oral Health Puppet – All the kids totally enjoyed this interactive experience, even Moms and Dads left smiling!

Additionally, First-Aid/CPR and nutrition counseling were all available. At the end of “Everything Healthy”, each child walked away with a goody bag of treats and trinkets, a healthy snack and had the opportunity to have their face beautifully painted and play in the safe and super fun pop-up play ground.

The Pediatric Village is one of the many projects that Rotary Sundown sponsors annually. Rotary Sundown thrives on giving back to the community and making a positive difference everywhere, every day and to everyone. Special thanks to all the sponsors, participants and volunteers for teaming up with Rotary Sundown to do something great.
