On International Day of Peace, Rotary Club of San Fernando-South installed a six sided Peace Pole at Pleasantville Secondary School, where we proudly sponsor an Interact Club.

The pole is inscribed with “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in six languages — English, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, and Yoruba. While no single monument can capture all of Trinidad & Tobago’s heritages, these languages reflect major traditions and stand as a daily reminder of unity and peace.

The initiative reflects the United Nations theme for Peace Day 2026: “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”

The Club also celebrated the winners of its Peace Through My Eyes Art Challenge — Christy Rose Samuel (1st), Christianna D’Abreau (2nd), and Jasmine Jerome (3rd) — whose creativity showed what peace means in their lives and communities.

President Stephanie Cozier, herself a past student of Pleasantville Secondary, reminded students that they are already leaders and can “choose kindness over cruelty, refuse to bully, include someone who is alone, settle disagreements without violence, speak up when something is unfair, and have the courage to say — I was wrong, I am sorry.”
