In an attempt to increase understanding of, and awareness towards, environmental sustainability, the District Environment and Interact committees have launched an Interact Green Space Competition, to run until the end of June. The primary objective of the initiative is to educate the younger generation on environmental issues, and nurture them into sustainability pioneers in their communities.
The competition is open to Interact clubs across the District. To participate, clubs should conceptualise and cultivate a space within their school or community that not only looks visually appealing, but also benefits the environment in some way. This may include the recycling of materials to use as pots or seating, avoiding the use of chemical pesticides, capturing and reusing water, enhancing biodiversity by attracting and protecting insects or birds, or simply growing food.
To register, clubs should complete the form here by the 15th of November. Once registered, clubs have four weeks to put together a plan for their green space, outlining the location of the space, how it will be developed and maintained over time to benefit the environment, and how all members of the group will be involved. On the return to school after Christmas, clubs will then have approximately five months to create their green space.
By the end of May, clubs will be required to submit a final report, detailing the steps that were taken to develop the green space, and the results. The Committee will then host a webinar on June 5th (World Environment Day), for participants to showcase their spaces to the rest of the District. All participants will receive an EnviroClub Award, and the top three clubs will receive prizes of US$500, US$300 and US$200, to go towards the maintenance of their green spaces.

Dans le but d'améliorer la compréhension et la sensibilisation au développement durable environnemental, les Comités Environnement et Interact du District ont lancé un Concours Interact sur les Espaces Verts, qui se déroulera jusqu'à la fin du mois de juin. L'objectif principal de cette initiative est d'éduquer la jeune génération sur les questions environnementales et d'en faire des pionniers du développement durable dans leurs communautés.
Le concours est ouvert aux clubs Interact de tout le District. Pour participer, les clubs doivent conceptualiser et cultiver un espace au sein de leur école ou de leur communauté qui soit non seulement visuellement attrayant, mais aussi bénéfique pour l'environnement d'une manière ou d'une autre. Il peut s'agir de recycler des matériaux pour en faire des pots ou des sièges, d'éviter l'utilisation de pesticides chimiques, de capter et de réutiliser l'eau, d'améliorer la biodiversité en attirant et en protégeant les insectes ou les oiseaux, ou simplement de cultiver des aliments.
Pour s'inscrire, les clubs doivent remplir le formulaire ici avant le 15 novembre. Une fois inscrits, les clubs ont quatre semaines pour élaborer un plan pour leur espace vert, en indiquant l'emplacement de l'espace, la manière dont il sera développé et entretenu au fil du temps au profit de l'environnement, et la manière dont tous les membres du groupe seront impliqués. À la rentrée des classes après Noël, les clubs auront alors environ cinq mois pour créer leur espace vert.
D'ici la fin du mois de mai, les clubs devront soumettre un rapport final, détaillant les mesures prises pour aménager l'espace vert et les résultats obtenus. Le Comité organisera ensuite un webinaire le 5 juin (Journée Mondiale de l'Environnement), afin que les participants puissent présenter leurs espaces au reste du District. Tous les participants recevront un Trophée EnviroClub, et les trois premiers clubs recevront des prix de 500, 300 et 200 dollars, à utiliser pour l'entretien de leurs espaces verts.
