IMAGINE! – It’s the end of the Rotary Year! It has been a wonderful experience! I’d like to begin by expressing my gratitude to the Leadership Team, all Rotarians, Rotaractors Interactors and Friends of Rotary for their unwavering support and dedication which made this year a success.
I am humbled and honored to have served as your District Governor. I will forever hold fond memories of the experiences from the virtual & physical club visits and fellowship demonstrated by your Clubs. I am touched by the degree of projects executed as you impacted the communities in which you serve in meaningful ways. Rotary is in good hands because of you, and I am eternally grateful to have been part of this experience.
As a District we have achieved significant progress over the past year:
Rotary Club Central – It was observed that 60 clubs set more than the minimum number of goals required to achieve an RI citation. This is a statistic that is key to evaluating how clubs perform and I do look forward to the results of the citation awards.
Membership Growth – most clubs retained their membership count and we saw the establishment of new Clubs under the Rotary umbrella – Early Act, Interact and Rotary. Our Rotary club membership has grown to 2450 from 2344 at the start of the year, a growth of over 4%. I am happy to welcome the Rotary Club of Aranguez to our membership. Kudos to Club President Kevan St. Brice for putting together a team of former Rotaractors to form this club which clearly tells us that the future is now! Unfortunately, Rotaract membership declined with the regularization of their new status. I trust that this can be reversed during the upcoming year. It is gratifying to observe that clubs have been adapting to the flexibility that RI now allows to have a minimum of two meetings per month. This will ensure that members can manage their meeting schedules more effectively.
Rotary Foundation Programmes (EREY, Annual Funds & PolioPlus) – while we haven’t achieved our target, our contributions will continue to go a long way to further ‘doing good in the world’; I thus, encourage you to diligently support the Rotary Foundation. Empower your Club by taking advantage of Global & District Grant opportunities available to support your projects.
The statistics show that the goals of the district for the Annual Fund – $157,000 and the Polio Plus fund – $62,000 were achieved. The fact remains that our total giving was less than in the last two years! And this is simply because there were over 20 non-giving clubs in our District! Can we, my friends make one final drive before June 30??
District Childhood Obesity Programme – we heighten awareness of this non-communicable disease affecting our children through the ‘Rotary Moves’ Campaign and beacon the call for all stakeholders to join us in reducing the incidence of Childhood Obesity.
Environmental Projects – I was filled with joy to see how you have embraced initiatives designed to protect our environment, as was evident by the submission of environmental projects as part of the District Citation criteria and Environmental Award.
I encourage you to continue your Rotary development by signing up for the vast range of training sessions offered via the Learning Centre (www.rotary.org); Zone 33&34 and District 7030. Get into action - volunteer your time, talent and skills in ways that would promote the development of this wonderful organization.
June is Rotary Fellowships Month. This is a perfect time to explore your hobbies, interests, or profession through Rotary by joining a fellowship: an international, independently organized group of people who have a common interest. A good way to connect new friends beyond your club and expand your international network.
And as we seek to end the Rotary year let us connect and celebrate with our fellow Rotarians in fellowship reflecting and savouring the good times looking to the horizon of the new Rotary year to ‘Create Hope in the World’.

Je voudrais commencer par exprimer ma gratitude à l'équipe de direction, à tous les Rotariens, Rotaractiens Interacteurs et Amis du Rotary pour leur soutien indéfectible et leur dévouement qui ont fait de cette année un succès.
Je suis humble et honoré d'avoir été votre gouverneur de district. Je garderai à jamais de bons souvenirs des expériences des visites de clubs virtuels et physiques et de la camaraderie démontrée par vos clubs. Je suis touché par le degré de projets exécutés alors que vous avez eu un impact significatif sur les communautés dans lesquelles vous servez. Le Rotary est entre de bonnes mains grâce à vous, et je suis éternellement reconnaissant d'avoir fait partie de cette expérience.
En tant que district, nous avons réalisé des progrès significatifs au cours de la dernière année :
Rotary Club Central – Il a été observé que 60 clubs se fixent plus que le nombre minimum d'objectifs requis pour obtenir une citation RI. Il s'agit d'une statistique essentielle pour évaluer les performances des clubs et j'attends avec impatience les résultats des citations.
Croissance des effectifs - la plupart des clubs ont conservé leur nombre de membres et nous avons vu la création de nouveaux clubs sous l'égide du Rotary - Early Act, interact et Rotary. Le nombre de membres de notre club Rotary est passé de 2344 au début de l'année à 2 450, soit une croissance de plus de 4 %. Je suis heureux d'accueillir le Rotary Club d'Aranguez parmi nos membres. Bravo au président Kevan St. Brice d'avoir réuni une équipe d'anciens Rotaractiens pour former ce club qui nous dit clairement que l'avenir c'est maintenant ! Malheureusement, l'adhésion au Rotaract a diminué avec la régularisation de leur nouveau statut. J'espère que cela pourra être inversé au cours de l'année à venir. Il est gratifiant de constater que les clubs se sont adaptés à la flexibilité que le RI permet désormais d'avoir un minimum de deux réunions par mois. Cela permettra aux membres de gérer plus efficacement leurs horaires de réunion.
Programmes de la Fondation Rotary (EREY, Fonds annuels du club et Polio Plus) - bien que nous n'ayons pas atteint notre objectif, nos contributions continueront à contribuer grandement à « faire le bien dans le monde » ; Je vous encourage donc à soutenir assidûment la Fondation Rotary. Renforcez votre club en profitant des opportunités de subventions RF et de district disponibles pour soutenir vos projets.
Les statistiques montrent que les objectifs du district pour le Fonds annuel – 157 000 $ et le fonds Polio Plus – 62 000 $ ont été atteints. Il n'en reste pas moins que nos dons totaux ont été inférieurs à ceux des deux dernières années ! Et c'est tout simplement parce qu'il y avait plus de 20 clubs qui ne donnaient pas dans notre District ! Pouvons-nous, mes amis, faire un dernier trajet avant le 30 juin ??
Programme de district sur l'obésité infantile - nous renforçons la sensibilisation à cette maladie non transmissible qui affecte nos enfants grâce à la campagne "Rotary Moves" et lançons l'appel à toutes les parties prenantes pour qu'elles se joignent à nous pour réduire l'incidence de l'obésité infantile. Projets environnementaux - J'ai été rempli de joie de voir comment vous avez adopté des initiatives conçues pour protéger notre environnement, comme en témoigne la soumission de projets environnementaux dans le cadre des critères de citation de district et du prix environnemental.
Je vous encourage à poursuivre votre développement Rotary en vous inscrivant à la vaste gamme de sessions de formation proposées via le Learning Center (www.rotary.org) ; Zone 33 & 34 et District 7030. Passez à l'action - offrez votre temps, votre talent et vos compétences de manière à promouvoir le développement de cette merveilleuse organisation.
Juin est le Mois des bourses du Rotary. C'est le moment idéal pour explorer vos hobbies, vos centres d'intérêt ou votre profession par le biais du Rotary en rejoignant une fraternité : un groupe international, organisé de manière indépendante, de personnes ayant un intérêt commun. Un bon moyen de connecter de nouveaux amis au-delà de votre club et d'étendre votre réseau international.
Et alors que nous cherchons à terminer l'année rotarienne, connectons-nous et célébrons avec nos collègues rotariens dans la fraternité en réfléchissant et en savourant les bons moments en regardant à l'horizon de la nouvelle année rotarienne pour « créer de l'espoir dans le monde ».
Au nom de l'équipe exécutive District 7030, j'aimerais souhaiter au DGE Brian et à son équipe beaucoup de succès pour l'année rotarienne 2023/24 et exprimer notre soutien continu au développement de notre district.
