MONTHLY MESSAGE

Next year, Rotary takes a step toward supporting peacebuilding in the Middle East and North Africa region when recruitment begins for our newest peace center in partnership with Bahçeşehir University (BAU) in Istanbul.

A series of events in the coming year will recognize the new center at BAU and Rotary's work to promote peace. The 2024 Rotary International Convention in May will mark 25 years since the first Rotary Peace Centers were announced — coincidentally at the Rotary Convention in Singapore in 1999.

Season's Greetings and Best Wishes for 2024!

Dear Members of the Rotary Family of District 7030,

As we approach the joyous holiday season, I extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you in this diverse and vibrant Rotary District 7030. Our district, encompassing a rich tapestry of cultures and beliefs, is a testament to the strength that comes from unity in diversity.

In this Christmas edition of our newsletter, I'm reminded of the shared values that bind us together—service above self, goodwill, and the commitment to making a positive impact in our communities by Creating Hope in the World. Whether you celebrate Christmas or simply enjoy the festive spirit that permeates this time of year, may the season bring you joy, peace, and an abundance of cherished moments with loved ones.

IMPACT FOUNDATION MONTH. SUPPORT THE ROTARY ANNUAL FUND

It’s November! It’s Foundation Month! Envision the impact we, as individuals and clubs, can make. It's our moment to propel the Rotary Annual Fund and shape our district, our clubs, and the world. Every contribution paves the way for transformative change.

This year, the Rotary International Annual Global Fund Committee for District 7030, chaired by Dr. Sharon Cordner, Past President and Past Assistant Governor of the Rotary Club of Antigua invites you to play a pivotal role in harnessing the collective power of Rotary to create lasting change. Additionally, it aims to ensure that our district's contributions to the Annual Fund are utilized to fund local and international humanitarian projects, scholarships, vocational training teams, and more.

ROTARY MEMBERSHIP – SOME COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
In every Rotary club and district, there are certain questions which are repeated every year.

Here are just a few with some answers that may hopefully provide a bit of proactive information for club members and leaders.

Why do we need 20 members to start a new club when there are plenty of clubs already with less than that?

A club needs 20 to charter, if it drops below that then it can continue to operate. However, in certain regions, like Great Britain & Ireland, clubs are able to charter with less than 20. There are certain criteria to fulfil, and clubs are monitored. More details can be obtained from your District Membership Chair.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
Preparing for the district team training seminar Get an early start on planning for your district team training seminar. The District Team Training Seminar Leader’s Guide has materials for learning facilitators to download and use to conduct the seminar. It comes in a zip file with session guides and worksheets that you can tailor to your learning event. Explore the District Leadership course catalog to find courses designed for various district roles. You can ask participants to take them before the seminar so that your sessions can focus on regional issues or group discussions.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN ROTARY
Prioritizing Mental Health

This year, Rotary International President R. Gordon R. McInally is encouraging all members to support better mental health for each other and our communities in order to Create Hope in the World. As people of action, our members are often exposed to difficult situations while doing humanitarian work. Take the Resiliency course in the Learning Center and use its tips to promote a culture of care by leading discussions on mental health. You can also talk to members about how building resiliency can help them overcome stress or trauma.

For the second year in the Interact Awards history, submissions will be accepted in Rotary’s official languages (English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese)! Submit your video, photo, and/or essay nominations by 3 December 2023 for a chance to be named “Best Video,” “Best Photo,” or “Best Essay” and receive funds to support your Interact club.
