Rotary has a long history of working with youth, from providing scholarships, encouraging youth leadership and student exchange programs, to sponsoring youth-based service clubs. Youth (or New Generations) Service is now one of Rotary's five official Avenues of Service and recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs.

Rotary’s creation of a 5th Avenue of Service for Youth (New Generations) demonstrates its commitment to youth programs, and recognizes the positive changes implemented by youth and young adults through leadership, development activities, service projects and exchange programs. Youth (New Generations) Service includes all our Rotary programs for young people up to the age of 30. This includes Rotaract, Interact, Earlyact, Rotary Youth Exchange, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, along with a large number of other youth and young adult programs, projects and activities undertaken at the club and area level.

Some of the responsibilities of the Club Youth (New Generations) Committee include:
  • Develop committee goals to achieve New Generations Service goals for the coming year.
  • Participate in programs or conduct projects that include assessments, planning and evaluation.
  • Create a balanced program of service by cooperating and coordinating with other club service project committees.
  • Work with other organizations, volunteers and committee members to maximize the impact of participation in programs and projects.
  • Lead fundraising efforts to fund projects, as needed.
  • Understand youth protection and liability issues that affect programs, projects, and activities.
  • Conduct any other activities associated with the effective operation of the club.
