As a club committee chair you help make your club a successful, thriving, and fun place. Whether you have been appointed as a committee chair or serve as a committee member, you can help your club improve your communities and develop leaders.
SOME OF WHAT YOU DO
- Oversees committee functions
- Convenes regular committee meetings and activities
- Supervises and coordinates the committee’s work
- Reports activities to club board
To be effective, a Rotary club needs members. Your club’s ability to assist local and international communities, support The Rotary Foundation, and develop leaders capable of serving Rotary beyond the club level is directly related to the strength, size, and involvement of its membership base. A club membership committee ensures a concerted effort to recruit new members and retain current ones. This ongoing process is essential to supporting Rotary International, which needs a dedicated club membership base to succeed. Specifically, the role of the Club Membership Committee is to develop and implement an action plan for membership development that actively attract, retain and engage members.
Some of the responsibilities of the Club Membership Committee include:
- Develop committee goals to achieve club’s annual goals.
- Conduct club assessments to determine strengths and weaknesses.
- Work with the public relations committee to create a positive club image that is attractive to prospective and current members alike.
- Develop programs to educate and train new and current club members.
- Sponsor newly organized clubs in your district, if applicable.
- Plan and Organize weekly meetings and special programs.
- Produce the club bulletin and maintain the club Web site so as to keep members informed.
- Help the club secretary maintain club membership lists and track club attendance.
- Promote fellowship among club members.
- Conduct any other activities associated with the effective operation of the club.
