RCSWT Annual Diabetes Project Week took place from Monday 12th to Friday 16th November 2018, in recognition of World Diabetes Day (November 14). This project seeks to increase awareness about Diabetes, its associated effects and strategies to reduce the risk, both to students/young persons and adults. This year we collaborated with the Scarborough Secondary School (SSS) to execute an activity filled week, surrounding the theme, ‘Diabetes and the Family’. Rotary Southwest Tobago began this annual project in November 2007 in recognition of World Diabetes Day and the need for awareness and education in Tobago. This year marked a further expansion of our project, including Primary School participation by students of the Lambeau Anglican Primary School, Official Opening & Launch, and an extended interactive Health Fair & Closing.

The Rotary Club of Southwest Tobago (RCSWT) is an organisation that includes people of action from within the Tobago community, committed to voluntary and charitable service as we undertake meaningful projects aimed at enhancing our community. Rotary International (RI) is a global network where neighbours, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change. The RCSWT forms part of the membership of the Rotary International (RI) family with 1.2 million members and over 35,000 clubs worldwide. The RCSWT is also the proud sponsor of the Interact Club of Southwest Tobago, our youth arm which includes members 12-18 years who are also actively involved in serving their community.

The Rotary Club of Southwest Tobago extends sincere appreciation to the TRHA, Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development, and the Private Sector community for their continued support towards our Annual Diabetes Project week 2018. We continue to bring awareness and education to the general public and students about this chronic disease, as we encourage all persons to strive to eat healthy daily.
