21st September 2021 holds many meanings to Rotary...

We observed and celebrated the 40th annual United Nations' International Day of Peace: a day all humanity could commit to Peace above all differences, as well as contribute to building a Culture of Peace, where persons of all ages the world over would recognize Peace in some way. From a minute of silence at noon to create a Peace Wave, to special events you could host, to messages, images and videos which could be shared across social media, there exists a wide variety of ways everyone could participate and contribute towards Peace.

Concurrently, Rotary District 7030 hosted its Peace In Cyberspace workshop on this day. Targeting youth in our region, this event sought to sensitize participants to many of the online dangers in today's world and address the power that we all have to use technology towards peacebuilding and to tackle issues within our community.

Additionally, 21st September 2021 represents the first of many Rotary Days of Service in District 7030. During the 2021-2022 Rotary year and as one of the four RI Presidential initiatives, Rotary Days of Service recognizes that hands-on volunteer experiences strengthen our communities. Rotary encourages clubs to offer meaningful volunteer opportunities for families and partner organizations to address challenges in our communities that are related to one or more of our areas of focus. Rotary Days of Service are also meant to make it easy for community members to see us as people of action, and encourage them to take action with us, regardless of their profession or their affiliation with Rotary.

Thus, in keeping with the goals of Peace In Cyberspace, District 7030, in partnership with UNICEF, produced a series of visual aids and messages on issues such as Cyber-bullying, Cyber-grooming, and overal online safety tips for youth and parents. District 7030 encourages all clubs and members of the Rotary family to share these on social media.
