My family of Rotary, greetings, as we celebrated the month of my favourite area of focus – Protecting the Environment. Special thanks to the clubs who have undertaken projects aligned with this area of focus, many of which I have seen when I visited clubs. A clear indication of how Rotarians have committed to preserving our environment.
Rotarians understand that the whole world is their backyard and are taking action to protect the environment. But our efforts must go beyond Rotary, we must educate and engage our communities on the importance of protecting the environment so that they can be empowered to take positive and restorative action.
The month of April also featured D7030, 31st PETS Assembly and Conference in Grenada, April 13th-15th. Over 300 Rotarians and Partners in Service attended what turned out to be a very successful district conference. Feature plenary speakers included Rotary International President’s Representative, Director Ananthanarayanan Venkatesh, 2021 World Food Prize Laureate Dr. Shakuntala Haracksingh-Thilsted and our luncheon speaker, world renowned Sergeant Major Johnson Beharry VC. All speakers were motivational and inspiring, evidenced by the standing ovation each received after their respective presentations. Plenary sessions included Rotary information and clubs project presentations highlighting service activities undertaken.
District conference 31, also provided a forum where Rotarians re-established friendships and discovered new friends all sharing in the wonderful fellowship which permeated throughout the 3 days.
Our visiting Rotarians were treated to home hospitality hosted by our local Rotarians on Friday 14th and our closing event was the Glam and Glitter party on Saturday 15 which was enjoyed by all.
District Conference featured a Project Fair for the first time in our district. Project fairs are organized by districts to give clubs an opportunity to showcase their local activities and to help international visitors find projects to support. Project fairs build a foundation for lasting international partnerships and help expand your club’s service.
A team of Rotarians from Zones 30 and 31 which included Past and current District Governors attended to view projects put forward by clubs hoping to attract financing or other support. The DISC screening committee submitted the best qualified projects for the visiting teams’ consideration. Clubs are anxiously awaiting the results.
And we move into the penultimate month-May- of our IMAGINE year, we recognize and celebrate our young generations – Rotaract, Interact and Rota Kids – our future. As Rotarians we believe in developing the next generation of leaders. Our programs help younger leaders build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of service.
Sponsors should lend support to these clubs during this month as they engage in activities to improve lives in their communities. To date Rotary clubs sponsor 65 active Interact clubs in our district. These young persons are totally immersed in their service activities it really is an experience to witness their level of engagement. Interactors `are currently preparing for their virtual district conference and awards June 17, 2023.
Rotaractors likewise, are also preparing for their in-person conference in Tobago June 22 where they will demonstrate how they “Think Big”.
Fellow Rotarians another appeal to each of you to make that final push to donate to our Rotary Foundation. Your individual donation will make a meaningful difference to millions of persons in need in the world. Please no amount is too small ! Let’s do it!!
Our Rotary International Convention takes place May 27-31, 2023 Melbourne Australia. District 7030 is certainly participating with a contingent of 43 registrants. Still time to register for anyone wishing to go. Come and let’s IMAGINE what’s next down under.
D7030 will be traveling as a Windies team so we will all be noticeable in our maroon polos. We will show other convention participants the great FELLOWSHIP that we are known for.

Salutations à ma famille du Rotary, alors que nous célébrons le mois de mon axe stratégique favori - la Protection de l`Environnement. Je remercie tout particulièrement les clubs qui ont monté des actions en lien avec cet axe stratégique, dont j'ai pu voir un grand nombre lors de mes visites dans les clubs. C'est une indication claire de la manière dont les Rotariens se sont engagés à préserver notre environnement.
Les Rotariens comprennent que le monde entier est leur terrain de jeu et agissent pour protéger l'environnement. Mais nos efforts doivent aller au-delà du Rotary, nous devons éduquer et impliquer nos communautés sur l'importance de la protection de l'environnement afin de leur donner les moyens de prendre des mesures positives et réparatrices.
Le mois d'avril a également été marqué par la 31ème SFPE, Assemblée et Conférence du District 7030, à Grenade du 13 au 15 avril. Plus de 300 Rotariens et conjoints ont participé à cette conférence de District très réussie. Parmi les orateurs en séance plénière figuraient le représentant du Président du Rotary International, le Directeur Ananthanarayanan Venkatesh, la lauréate du Prix Mondial de l'Alimentation 2021, le Dr Shakuntala Haracksingh-Thilsted, et l'orateur du déjeuner, le Sergent-Major Johnson Beharry VC, de renommée mondiale. Tous les orateurs ont été motivants et inspirants, comme en témoigne l'ovation qu'ils ont reçue à l'issue de leurs présentations respectives. Les séances plénières ont été l'occasion de présenter des informations sur le Rotary et des projets de clubs mettant en lumière les activités de service entreprises.
La 31ème Conférence de District a également été l'occasion pour les Rotariens de renouer des liens d'amitié et d'en découvrir de nouveaux, tout en partageant la merveilleuse camaraderie qui a régné tout au long de ces trois jours.
Nos Rotariens en visite ont été accueillis par nos Rotariens locaux le vendredi 14 et notre événement de clôture a été la soirée Glam and Glitter le samedi 15, qui a été appréciée par tous.
La Conférence de District a été l'occasion d'organiser une Foire aux Projets pour la première fois dans notre District. Les Foires aux Projets sont organisées par les Districts afin de permettre aux clubs de présenter leurs activités locales et d'aider les visiteurs internationaux à trouver des projets à soutenir. Les foires aux projets jettent les bases de partenariats internationaux durables et contribuent à élargir l'action de votre club.
Une équipe de Rotariens des Zones 30 et 31, composée d'anciens et d'actuels Gouverneurs de District, s'est rendue sur place pour examiner les projets présentés par les clubs dans l'espoir d'obtenir un financement ou d'autres formes de soutien. La commission de sélection du DISC a soumis les projets les mieux qualifiés à l'examen des équipes de visiteurs. Les clubs attendent avec impatience les résultats.
Alors que nous entrons dans l'avant-dernier mois - mai - de notre année IMAGINE, nous reconnaissons et célébrons nos jeunes générations - Rotaract, Interact et Rota Kids - notre avenir. En tant que Rotariens, nous croyons au développement de la prochaine génération de leaders. Nos programmes aident les jeunes leaders à développer leurs compétences en matière de leadership, à parfaire leur éducation et à apprendre la valeur du service.
Les Clubs parrains doivent apporter leur soutien à ces clubs au cours de ce mois, alors qu'ils s'engagent dans des activités visant à améliorer les conditions de vie au sein de leurs communautés. À ce jour, les Rotary clubs parrainent 65 clubs Interact actifs dans notre District. Ces jeunes gens sont totalement immergés dans leurs activités de service - c'est vraiment une expérience que de constater leur niveau d'engagement. Les Interactiens se préparent actuellement à leur Conférence de District virtuelle et à la remise des prix le 17 juin 2023.
De même, les Rotaractiens se préparent à leur conférence en présentiel à Tobago, le 22 juin, où ils montreront comment ils "Voient Grand".
Chers amis rotariens, un nouvel appel est lancé à chacun d'entre vous pour que vous fassiez un dernier don à la Fondation Rotary. Votre don individuel fera une différence significative pour des millions de personnes dans le besoin dans le monde. Aucun montant n'est trop petit ! C'est parti !
Notre Convention Internationale du Rotary aura lieu du 27 au 31 mai 2023 à Melbourne, en Australie. Le District 7030 y participera certainement avec un contingent de 43 inscrits. Il est encore temps de s'inscrire pour tous ceux qui souhaitent s'y rendre. Venez et IMAGINONS ce qui nous attend.
Le D7030 voyagera en tant qu'équipe des Windies, nous serons donc tous visibles dans nos polos bordeaux. Nous montrerons aux autres participants à la Convention notre grande CAMARADERIE pour laquelle nous sommes connus.
