Youth Service Committees

 
These committees develop, implement, and support Youth Service / New Generations activities in the district and coordinate with other committees to engage youth. The district governor may determine the best structure for the committee and its relationships with other district committees.

Rotaract brings together young leaders ages 18-30 to take action in their communities and develop leadership skills while having fun. this committee promotes Rotaract by:
  • Connecting young leaders to other Rotary experiences such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).
  • Promoting opportunities for Rotaract members to partner with Rotary clubs on service projects.
  • Encouraging clubs to sponsor a Rotaract club.

Interact provides opportunities for youth ages 12-18 a chance to connect with other young people in their community or school while developing their leadership skills. This committee promotes Interact by:
  • Encouraging clubs to sponsor an Interact club.
  • Keeping program participants connected with Rotary and help them transition from one program or activity to another.
  • Protecting youth from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by following the guidelines in the Interact Handbook.
 
 
 
Through Rotary Youth Leadership Award events, clubs develop young leaders while inspiring them to connect, exchange ideas, and take action in their schools and communities. This committee promotes RLYA by:
  • Assisting with the organization of RYLA events in your district.
  • Connecting young leaders, including Interactors, Rotaractors, and Youth Exchange students, to RYLA and Rotary's global community.
  • Keeping RYLA alumni engaged with Rotary.
 
 
 
Through Rotary Youth Exchanges, Rotary empowers young people to develop leadership skills while promoting global understanding and peace. This committee promotes youth exchanges by:
  • Coordinating inbound and outbound youth exchange activities in your district.
  • Communicating regularly with Rotary, your district governor, and clubs sponsoring exchange students.
  • Protecting youth participants from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by making sure exchanges operate in accordance with RI Certification requirements and local laws.

General Responsibilities of the Committees include:
  • Promote Youth Service / New Generations Month (September).
  • Coordinate with the district Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Youth Exchange, Community Service, International Service, and Vocational Service committees to foster cooperation.
  • Emphasize service in each of the New Generations programs (Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, and Youth Exchange).
  • Encourage and facilitate relationships with other organizations to expand opportunities for young people.
  • Encourage and facilitate transition of young people from one program or activity to another, and offer progressively increasing responsibility as young people acquire leadership skills.
  • Engage with former New Generations program participants to maintain their ongoing contact with Rotary.
