The Handover Ceremony of Rotary District 7030 took place on June 24th 2017 in the Royal Ballroom of Hotel Torarica in Suriname.
Past district governors Georges Nouh-Chaia, Milton Innes and Hervé Honoré  travelled to Paramaribo to join  DG Roger Bose, DGE Waddy Sowma and DGN Dominique Venere for this special ceremony. The group of PDG’s was complete with Suriname’s own Henri Guda and Cees Dilweg.

After short but fun speeches from past district governors Georges Nouh-Chaia and Elwin Atmodimedjo, district governor elect Waddy pinned Dominique Venere as district governor nominee  2017-2018.

On the same stage, in front of a packed ballroom DG Roger Bose traditionally handed over the Governor's chain to DGE Waddy Sowma. DG Roger amused the crowd with some fun anecdotes of his travels while pointing out the importance of Rotary and the position of District Governor to the guests.

DGE Waddy thanked the DG, his spouse Rotarian Shirley, guests and the Rotary Family by warmly referring to them as 'the wind beneath his wings'. The district governor elect introduced his executive district leadership team and committed himself for 100% in the spirit of the Rotary theme; 'making a difference'.

The guests enjoyed a beautiful evening of cultural dancing and a Lebanese/Asian inspired buffet.
