Is Your Club Working Towards a 2015/16 Presidential Citation?

ABOUT THE PRESIDENTIAL CITATION?

The RI Presidential Citation is a distinguished award that is given to Rotary Clubs who have answered Rotary International's call to arms each year. The Presidential Citation recognizes Rotary clubs for achieving an array of accomplishments that help them become stronger, deliver more effective service, and enhance their public image. By qualifying for the Presidential Citation, clubs contribute to Rotary’s good work and strategic goals as well as multiply the impact of their good work through the collective focus of 34,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.

Did you know that you can help strengthen your club and Rotary's reputation for doing good by taking part in the Presidential Citation program. Your Rotary, Rotaract, or Interact club can earn a Presidential Citation from President K.R. Ravindran for achieving goals that strengthen Rotary and your club. Activities include growing your membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and building awareness of Rotary in your community.

The Presidential Citation is therefore a means by which your club can not only set some new club goals and enhance others, but also, where it can set itself apart in the achievement of those goals and be recognized for such by Rotary International. Many clubs use the Presidential citation goals in the own annual plans and objectives which helps them raise the bar each year and secure a strong and vibrant club.

In the end, the summary purpose of the Presidential Citation is to increase Rotary club involvement in service activities, while at the same time encouraging Rotarians' personal involvement in serving others and promoting a high standard of Rotary service in the community

ONLINE REPORTING: ROTARY & ROTARACT CLUBS

This process is paperless and replaces the forms and reports clubs and district governors were required to submit in the past regarding the completion of citation goals. Instead, some activities will be verified when club leaders enter information in Rotary Club Central, while others, like donations to the Foundation or participation in a discussion group, will be confirmed automatically. Please note that under the "Service" tab in Rotary Club Central for your club you'll see a section that deals specifically with the Presidential Citation.

New online reports make it easy for club leaders to track progress on each of the citation's goals. You can also see which activities your clubs still need to complete as well as verify Rotary's data. (Email data@rotary.org to correct any errors in Rotary's data.)

Interact clubs cannot report their activities online. Interact club leaders should report their activities to the president of their sponsor club, who can verify completion of the goals online beginning in March 2016.

Rotary club leaders, Rotaract club sponsors, district leaders, and regional coordinators can access reports on citation progress using the online dashboard tool. Please note that you must be logged into Rotary.org and have the necessary access rights (typically granted to club presidents and secretaries) in order to access the information.

To best benefit from the new dashboard tool, clubs have the responsibility to regularly check their progress and verify both the accuracy of the data in My Rotary (e.g. up to date membership information), as well as, the club goals, progress and achivements in Rotary Club Central.

The system also allows for District governors to be able to track the progress of the clubs.
